5 Science Films and Shows to Watch

Here are 5 science-based films and series, that are worth a watch!

  1. A Trip to Infinity

A group of scientists, mathematicians, and physicists discuss the concept of infinity. An already difficult concept to wrap one’s mind around, this documentary may make things clearer, or maybe distort your view on the term “infinity”.

  1. Into the Inferno

Something we perhaps try not to think about too much, but many active volcanoes exist today. The volcanologist, Clive Oppenheimer, takes the audience around these volcanoes and explores the cities and people that live around them. This documentary deep dives into the dangerous world of volcanoes, looking at the beauty and culture behind them.

  1. I Contain Multitudes

Originally, a book by Ed Yong, is now a web series that documents the world of the microbiome. Each episode is around 10 minutes and covers a wide variety of microbiome topics and how it relates to our world. Check out some of his other books too! I promise you’ll be fascinated by the science behind our world.

  1. Blackfish

An exploration of what it means to keep animals in captivity. How captivity changes animal psyche and behavior. This documentary specifically discusses the controversy of Orca captivity and the aftermath of doing so.

  1. Bill Nye the Science Guy

Bill! Bill! Bill! A throwback to those of us who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. A staple in every classroom. A classic that doesn’t seem to go out of style. In all seriousness, a great series that makes science approachable and teachable to younger kids. It will always make my list!

Bonus: The Magic School Bus

Another classic that just will never get old! We all remember and love the adventures we took with Ms. Frizzle and her class. Everything from space to inside the human body. Traveling with this class was always, and will always be a blast!
