This week we are excited to announce the newest addition to our line-up, the EDGE Integrated Electrophoresis System!
The EDGE has been designed from the ground up to combine safety, speed, and convenience. We set out to create a single piece of equipment that could combine our research-grade electrophoresis chamber and power supply with a blue light transilluminator. The result is a system that can run an agarose gel in as little as 10 minutes, while maintaining excellent band resolution and separation.
The results on the gel below are from our “Exploring the Genetics of Taste: SNP Analysis of the PTC Gene using PCR” experiment. These samples were amplified by polymerase chain reaction and then run for 10 minutes on the EDGE. Even the smallest 44 bp DNA bands are easily distinguishable!
In addition to the amazing speed and results, the EDGE incorporates many other innovative features:
• Ventilated lid and fan prevent condensation for easy viewing
• Compatible with SYBR® Safe for sensitive results without UV light
• Built-in safety switches cut power if the lid is lifted
